Meteorology

You will probably spend most of your time flying your drone outside. As you will be exposed to the weather, as a future certified drone pilot you need to have a good knowledge of meteorology. In this module, for example, you will learn how the wind is created and what influence it has on your drone. We also explain everything about temperature, visibility and pressure & density. And of course you will also learn how to conduct a proper weather briefing.

The basics of flying

Have you ever wondered why an airplane flies at all or how a multicopter manages to change its flight direction without active control surfaces? This is exactly what the chapter on the basics of flying is all about. We also show you how to determine the performance of your drone and calculate the center of gravity. By the end, you will know exactly what weight you can legally fly at what altitude.

General UAV knowledge

In normal use, flying a drone is quite simple, but there is a lot of complex technology working in the background. How this technology works is explained in the General UAV knowledge chapter. We take a step-by-step look at the individual components and explain how they work. By the end, you will know how the batteries, the remote control, the sensors, the various flight modes and the drone’s flight position controller work.

Flight operations

The flight operations chapter deals not only with normal flight procedures, but also with emergency procedures. You will learn how to estimate the distance to people, how to deal with emergency situations and, of course, all the basics of drone flying.
